This little guy just makes me Happy Happy Happy...know what I mean?

I used the 4x4 design size (smallest in the group) and he stitched like a dream...it's definetly a must have for sure!

OH SNAP!
Saturday, 14 December 2019 00:00

finished oh snap ornament

OMG...My Christmas Ornament parade continues with this Cute Gingerbread Man...

Isn't he the most adorble Christmas applique you have ever seen?

He reminds me of my oldest Child...Mr. Computer Engineer.

Whenever the conversations with our son go in a "certain direction" and someone in the room is "put in their place"...

Mr. Computer Engineer always says...SNAP!

Kind of like...Gotcha!

This particular applique design is from Oh Sew Grammie and you will find the direct link here...

https://sewgrammie.com/products/oh-snap?_pos=3&_sid=6ea7dd9f4&_ss=r

I stitched this design using the 4x4 size on a piece of 25 Opalescent Lugana Fabric...made for Cross Stitching.

Who says you have to follow ALL the rules and only use Regular Cotton Textiles?

I also used a piece of Warm and White 100% cotton batting as a "Stabilizer" of sorts...

it not only serves as the PERFECT permanent hold for the design itself,

but also gives the design a little bit of "fluff" inside the little wooden frame I put it in!

Now...that's what I call a WIN WIN situation!

After I trimmed the design and batting down to fit the interior of the little wooden frame...

I then mounted it onto a Sticky Board of the same size...

and then I used some Double sided Stitchery Tape to mount it inside the frame itself.

I finished it off with a simple sweet piece of Red and White Bakers Twine around the inside edge...

using Aleene's Tacky Glue and I just LOVE the way it makes the design POP!

I also replaced the "twine" hanger that the wooden frame came with...

with the same Red and White Bakers Twine...so it will hang nicely from my Christmas Tree!

Be sure to check out the Tools of the Trade at the bottom of this post for all the details of what I used to make this Sweet Ornament!

DIGIT SAVERS!
Wednesday, 11 December 2019 00:00

final23

 The Million Dollar question...

Just what the heck is a Digit Saver?

Silly Goose...it's just what it sounds like...

An Embroidery Machine Tool to help you save the "Digits"...

aka "Fingers" from being hit by the needle or NEEDLES!

Now...that is my FAVORITE Tool...

Can I get an AMEN?

About 9 years ago...shortly after I purchased my first Multi-Needle Machine...Bella Blue Jane...

She accidently BIT me...

When I say BITE...

I really mean my finger got a little TOO close to one of the needles...

while I was "holding down" the applique fabric on my project and it hit my finger tip.

Gracious BE...

I may or may NOT have said a couple really bad words...

OK...I DID!

I digress...

The "funny" thing about this little story is this...

My Houston...aka my Husband...also known as MR. Safety...

was watching me stitch out something just the day before this little incident...

He remarked, quite abrubtly, that I should use something to hold the fabric down...

but NOT my fingers...

LORD...save the Digits...he says!

YEP...just a few days later...he came up with this Sweet Little Gadget...

I call the "Digit Saver"!

Here she is in ACTION...

doing what she does BEST...

double watermark digit saver in use

If you click on the above picture to enlarge it...

you will clearly see that this Little Gadget has saved my Digits a time or two...

the little holes at the tip prove it!

Need one of these in YOUR embroidery room...

They are available for purchase at my Embroidery Machine Lectures/Trunk Shows!

A VERY SPECIAL CHRISTMAS STOCKING!
Saturday, 07 December 2019 00:00

santa puppy stocking

Christmas Stockings aren't just for "people" any more!  LOL!  We have a new special Grandpuppy and her name is Dakota!

YEP...

you guessed it...

she needed an Extra Special Christmas Stocking to hang over the fireplace...just for HER!

I ask you...how else can you expect Santa to find her amongst all the other Super Cute puppies this year?

I digress...

I used a Burlap fabric from Hobby Lobby to cut the Body (both front and back) of the stocking out of...

it actually has a gold shimmery sparkle to it and it's Super CUTE!

I fused a piece of fleece to the backside of the stocking front BEFORE I loaded it onto my Embroidery Machine

so it could stitch out this fabulous Puppy Girl Applique from Munchkyms design with NO puckers or pulls in the fabric!

Meanwhile...here is a Close Up of the actual applique for you to check out...

Be sure to check out my Tools of the Trade at the Bottom of this blog post to find the details of where to purchase this oh so cute design!

 Now...let's talk about the Cuff...

I stitched Sweet Dakota's name on the cuff panel first too...

BEFORE I sewed the cuff to the top of the stocking for ease of construction.

I used the Barnyard Font from I2S (link listed below also).

You will never be disapointed with any of the well digitized fonts from I2S...

believe me, I LOVE LOVE LOVE them ALL!

Check out the close up of the Name on the Cuff below...

isn't it just FABULOUS?

Just a heads up...

I also fused a piece of fleece to the backside of the stocking cuff BEFORE I stitched Dakota's name on it...

The Fusible Fleece serves not only as a firm stabilizer but also gives the stocking and cuff

extra body...especially since I used the shimmery burlap.

If you have never tried using fusible fleece in a Stocking or Stocking Cuff...

be sure to give it a try...you'll LOVE the results!

Now...let's make a Special Stocking for all our precious pups!

FLANNEL PENGUIN PAJAMAS!
Wednesday, 04 December 2019 00:00

penguin pajamas finished

Whew...my “need to make” list has finally dwindled down to a select few items that need to be done BEFORE Christmas and I am thinking I deserve a sweet pair of Winter Flannel Pajamas...

JUST for ME!

I'm gonna let you in a little secret...I love me some Flannel...

SERIOUSLY...

Soft and Warm Flannel...you just can't go wrong with that combination!

It would not be out of the ordinary to see me working in my studio...sporting a pair of Flannel Pajamas until noon!  It's one of my favorite perks about working from home!

Who's with me here?

I found a really nice 2 piece set of flannel pajamas at the JC Penney's on line catalog...while I was sipping my morning coffee and sporting a pair of flannel pajamas from last year!  Go figure!

See...I told you...

Flannel Pajamas are my “thing”!

Let's get started...

Because I wanted my PJ's to be a “winter” theme and not a “Christmas” theme...I chose to use the Skating Penguin Applique design in the 4x4 inch size.  I also added the word”BRRR” to bottom edge...so I chose the Thick as Thieves Font in the 1 inch size.

After I combined the Font with my Skating Penguin in my Software...I went ahead and printed out a template and then used that template to find the “perfect” spot on the left side of my Pajama top.  Here's what my paper template looks like...

And...

YES, I just print my template in black and white...no wasting color ink here!

 penguin pajamas template

Having this template cut out allows me to move it around on my pajama top (while I have it on) to find the perfect placement...not too HIGH or too CLOSE to my armpit!  LOL!

I prepared my 5x7 Fast Frame with Sticky Stabilizer and then fused a piece of No Show Fusible Mesh on the backside of where I will be putting my design.

Design Stats...

Finished Size...4.5” wide X 4.25” tall

9,003 stitches

Here she goes...

In addition to my red clippies...I also added a couple Flower Head Pins for some “extra added hold”...NO moving or shifting here!

This little Skating Penguin has only 4 fabric panels, and it stitched up really quick,...however, it still really packs a punch with the details.  I just love him bunches!

Now...I'm REALLY ready for the Winter Holidays...

Sipping my morning coffee...

And working in my new Flannel Pajamas till NOON!

That's what I call a REAL plan!

And...

Just because I can...

Here's a close up...

Don't you just love the “sparkly” I used for the scarf and the skates (Glitter Mirror Canvas...check out the supply list for all the details!)
