Woohoo...I am so excited to get to this point with my Christmas Star Wallhanging.  She is turning out to be a Beauty...at least in my eyes!

Here's the skinny details of my plan...

-Block size is 4 inches square FINISHED

-Each Black has 13 Pieces

-Total of 64 Blocks in my Quilt

-Total Piece Count for completed quilt is 832

-Quilt Block Set at 8X8

-8 Rows of 8 Blocks

If you click on the picture to make it larger...you will find that the ONLY fabric I used that is constant is the background white tone on tone.  I simply like the way it gives 'definition" to the center of the block...seperating the RED side from the SILVER side helps make the stars stand out as individuals.

It's a WIN WIN situation!

one block 52 pieces

I'm in  LOVE!

Progress on my Christmas Star Wallhanging Quilt is being made here at The Quilted Story...and I cannot believe how striking the RED fabrics are against the SILVER ones!  I'm thinking I made the right choice.

These little gems work up fairly quick...using a standard paper piecing method...

You simply can't go wrong with these three simple steps...repeating them over and over again.

Pretty much until you can do it in your sleep.

Pictured above are 4 blocks together to form the center red star and the outside silver corners will line up with more blocks to form alternating silver star blocks.  There are 13 pieces in EACH block that "finish" at 4 inches square...so here you see a total of 54 pieces that make up this completed block.

Let's make MORE!

work station

Gracious Be...it's been almost a solid year since my last Blog post and here I am trying to play "catch up"!

I have a good excuse...

Well at least it sounds "GOOD" in my head!

I have been the Creative blogger at a large Embroidery Design business for the past year and I have LOVED every single minute of it...

I learned so much...my brain is FULL!

However...I have resigned from that position to persue other opportunities!

Hopefully this will free some time to devote to my own blog...here at The Quilted Story!

So...let's get moving!

Today is Work Station Wednesday and I have started a Super Cute Christmas Wallhanging...

Completely Paper Pieced of course!

I gotta get a jump on the Christmas Holiday...it's gonna be here before you know it!

Besides...NO one likes to be burning the midnight oil on Christmas Eve getting projects like this done in time for the "big day"!

Ask me how I know...

In this snap shot you will see what my "big board" ironing station looks like when I am set up in "paper piecing" mode.  I like to work in a highly efficient manner by eleminating as many steps as possible.  My machine sits to the left of this big board and I am able to easily roll from one position to the other in my sweet office chair...without missing a beat.

I have my iron at the right side of my big board...simply because I am right handed.

At the "big board" I can prep my Paper Pieced block...Trim it and Press all it's pieces parts...all at the same location!

Now...how's that for "efficient"?

At the upper left in the picture is my over flowing tote of Christmas Colored Fabric leftovers from another project or two...or ten!

Gotta LOVE those scraps!

Most imprtantly...

Gotta use them up!

duckie sailor burp cloth

Gracious Alive...I couldn't wait to share my most popular Appliqued Baby Burp Cloth with you!  This particular sample is one Super Fabulous design, from BabyKaysAppliques.com.  You have got to have this little guy in your designs sets to choose from...so fun for this particular little guy, however...I hope to "girl it up" for a sweet little princess soon!

I used my "powers" and put a cute little letter C in the center of the flag...which stands for "Colton"!  I just LOVE love love the way he turned out on this burp cloth that I lined with a fun madras plaid from Michael Miller!

Does it get any cuter than that?

new bodysuit beanie bib

Mattie and ME! have been doing double time in the Shop making super cute "things" for new sweet babies due to arrive soon...hence the reason I have neglected my little website...but in all honesty...just a tad.  I have been working on learning some new things regarding the "behind the scenes" jargon that would make your head spin with crazy thoughts...so I suppose, I haven't really been sitting "idle".

I digress...

Too much "serious work" makes Kathleen a boring gal...and we simply cannot have that!

I just finished up this adorable little baby girl set for my neighbors new Granddaughter...Addison.  I just LOVE LOVE LOVE her name in embroidery...and her 3 letter monogram is even cuter!

I wasn't quite sure what direction I wanted to go with her little set...and when you have as many applique designs as I do to choose from...the decision becomes unbelievable to say the least!  But here's the skinny...

First...I decided I wanted to do a Teal, Red and Pink color way...for no other reason except that I hadn't done one and thought...why not?  Second...this Love Bug Applique Design kept jumping up on my software screen...

 Isn't it just the cutest?

new bodysuit 2

From here...one can never go wrong with a super sweet personalized Beanie Hat and Matching Baby Bib...complete with a coordinating RED snap closure to make it "pop" off the teal background!
